Information for your stay at North Hill

When you arrive at North Hill you will want to know in advance what is provided in the Cottage and what is not. This way you won't bring unnecessary items or forget to bring something you do need.

The nearest supermarkets are 4-5 miles away so the last thing you will want to do is go shopping just having arrived after a long journey, so we suggest you bring the basics and then top up during your stay as necessary. Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda will all deliver to North Hill so please feel free to order for a delivery after your arrival.

You may not want to cook on your first evening and we can recommend the food at The Muddiford Inn (2 miles away). It may be worth booking a table.

Arrival time

Arrival time is from 3.00pm. Whilst we like to accommodate for slightly earlier arrivals, we cannot guarantee that the cottage will be ready, especially during peak season. If you are arriving late or we are out when you arrive there are some self-check located in our red telephone box!

Linen

When you arrive you will find the beds have been made up appropriate to the number in the cottage ready for use.

We can supply a travel cot and /or high chair free of charge to prevent you having to fill up the car with these items. If you are bringing a travel cot or have asked us to provide one please note that we cannot supply bedding for the cot so please bring your own.

We provide 1 bath towel per person but if you are planning to use the pool you may wish to bring larger swimming pool towels.

A bath set is provided.

Kitchen

We provide a bottle of washing up liquid, a scourer and also a tea towel and oven glove. If the cottage has a dishwasher (Orchard, Harvest, Byre, Shippon, Rowan, Willow, Holly) we provide 2 x tablets to get you going. We also provide olive oil, salt and pepper.

All cottages have cutlery and crockery, saucepans, oven pans an electric kettle, toaster, electric oven/hob, fridge freezer and microwave.

The kitchen bin will be lined with a fresh black plastic bin liner but you will need to bring replacements.

Bedroom & Bathroom

We supply liquid hand soap and couple of loo rolls.

There is a shaver socket/toothbrush recharging point and hair dryers in each cottage.

Food

Besides the olive oil, salt and pepper we provide local tea from Miles (West Country blend). For all other supplies Barnstaple has a good range of supermarkets ranging from M&S to Lidl. Our guest book also lists a few local produce stores such as Besshill Farm Shop.

TV & WiFi

There is a TV in your cottage, but most are not smart TVs.

All the cottages have good WiFi but given our location it cannot support extensive live streaming, please plan in advance of your stay if you would like to download films etc - Many thanks

Heating

Each cottage has a thermostat but the heating times are controlled centrally and to ensure your comfort, it comes on in accordance with the weather! So for the summer months for example it is generally off unless we have a cold snap. During the colder months it comes on in the mornings and then again in the afternoons for the evening.

With the exception of Rowan the cottages have log burners. We provide a complemetary basket of logs with additional supplies available from the woodstore at a bargain price of £3 a basket!

Cleaning Materials

Various cleaning materials are supplied for the loo and kitchen. A vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board are supplied.

On Departure

Please vacate your cottage by 10.00am on the day of departure. The cottage should be left in a tidy condition with bins emptied etc.
